Food for Thought

Food for Thought is an outgrowth of many thoughtful studio conversations about the state of the world. While one can always find problems and difficulties to complain about, as educators, optimists, and artists, we believe there are also solutions that exist or can be discovered. The book contains ephemera, facts, poetry and quotes in individual “seed” packets, to prompt creative, organic thinking about the problems that confront the world today and solutions that could be implemented. This book was made in collaboration with Mary Jeanne Linford.

Materials: Nearly all materials in the book are recycled. The wood for the box came from leftover fir flooring. Paper from end-run cover-weight printing stock Glassine envelopes and ephemera came from our studio collections. Brass hardware, adhesives and ink-jet ink used in printing were the only new materials. The box was constructed of Douglas fir timber-frame remnants by WB Agnew.
